'Cormorants' -work-in-progress'
''Cormorants' - I recreated this using fabrics and thread using my photo of these entertaining seabirds. A few of the features that were new to create were the worn ropes (primarily created with thread), and the reflection of the rusty ship buoy in the water - a beautiful blend of golds, copper, burnt orange.
The finished piece is 22" x 28" and was framed.
I used two batik fabrics to create the basic water - then I added pieces of colors to the water to create the reflection of the rusty buoy. I cut my birds individually and placed them on the buoy. The weathered ropes are created first with some fabric with a basic rope pattern (see above) then covered with thread to create a more realistic rope effect.
