'Basking in Sunlight'
'This is one of the early fabric art projects I tackled. Finding fabric for her body that had the look of being underwater was a challenge. Her mermaid tail is made from several fabrics plus I used an shiny oraganza fabric to add some reflective qualities as well. I got a bit carried away with her hair (but it was fun). I created the stone grotto from 3 different fabrics. I cheated a bit on the octupus creatures (I cut them out of a octupus print fabric).
The finished piece is 24"x 36" and was framed.
